STARTING LESSONS AT KEYLODIA

  1. When can my child start lessons?

Many children are ready to begin around age 4. At this stage, they can copy rhythms, learn basic technique, and play simple tunes. Starting young helps develop focus, coordination, self-discipline, and a lifelong love of music.

  1. My child can’t even focus for 10 minutes. How could they learn to play an instrument?

With the right mix of games, activities, and interactive exercises, even young beginners can stay engaged for the whole lesson. Music study also improves attention to detail, which often benefits children in school and other activities.

  1. How long are lessons?

Your trial lesson will help us recommend the right length. Younger students often thrive with 45-minute lessons, giving time for technique, exploration, and musical games without feeling rushed. Advanced players—especially those preparing for recitals, competitions, festivals, or intermediate and advanced level on RCM exams—often do best with 60–90 minute lessons.

  1. Do we need to practice at home?

Yes—regular practice is essential. We work with families to make practice time positive and achievable. Students quickly see how small daily efforts can lead to great long-term progress.

  1. I’ve always dreamed of learning music, but never had the chance as a child. Is it too late to start now?

Not at all! Adults bring valuable qualities like focus, motivation, and strong comprehension skills. While some physical aspects may take time, many adults progress quickly and enjoy the process just as much as children do.

  1. Can we have a trial lesson first before registering?

Absolutely. The trial period lets you experience the instrument and meet the teacher before committing. We offer a FREE Lesson during your trial period. We can also try out different types of lessons and combinations during the trial period so you can find the right fit for you. Click here to book your free trial lesson today!

  1. My child hasn’t turned 4 yet. What types of music lessons can we do?

For children younger than 4, pre-instrumental classes focus on learning the foundational aspects of rhythm, pitch, and a love of music. These classes are taken with their parents/guardians on their side, to ensure their safety as well as provide them support. Please inquire with us through our contact form regarding these classes.
